Auroras’s qualification quest to the Division 2 Upper League was handed a major blow over the weekend when the team lost 2-1 to Dawtex FC.

Ahmed Tijani grabbed his third league goal slotting home from the spot to hand Auroras the opener in the first half but the hosts charged on before drawing level and taking the lead a couple of minutes later to complete a remarkable turnaround that boosted their survival chances.

The defeat, coupled with last week’s home draw, means Auroras do not have their qualification destiny in their hands with a game to end the season having been displaced by Thunder FC at the top of the Greater Accra Regional Division 2 Lower League table.

Auroras have fallen four points behind Thunder FC and have missed out on the sole qualification ticket for the Division 2 Upper League.
