The Club was founded by a group of young men around Ussher Town, Accra. One of the principal founders was the late Christopher Brandford Nettey, a war leader of the Ga State in the colonial times.
In fact all the founders were players and these include Mark Nettey, Adolf, Alfred and William Okraku. J.T.O. Ankrah, Peter Malm, Bruce Tagoe, Amponsah and Kwashie Solomon. They chose Saltpond born Akom Duncan as their first playing captain.
It was incorporated in 1994 and operates as a limited liability company with a Board and a Chief Executive.Currently Mr Ato Ahwoi, an astute economist, former Minister of Fuel and Power, Board chairman of CEPS and VRA and Managing Director of Cashpro is the Board Chairman.
As a reward for meritorious services a Council of Patrons comprising distinguished servants of the club was also formed at the apex.
It comprises Ex-ministers of State, Gorvenor of the Central Bank, Inspector -General of Police, Industrialists, Accommplished footballers eg. Mr C.K.Gyamfi, FIFA (Technical Advisor) etc. The president of this council is Nana Wereko Ampem II (aka E.N. Omaboe) ex-minister of Finance and currently Chancellor of the University of Ghana and advisor to the UN Secretary-General on world Pension scheme, and chairman of the Un Investment Committee.
Planning, Implementation, Coordination and Monitoring
The objective of the club is to provide entertainment to populace and offer employment to the players and non-players as well as to attain laurels.
This is reflected in a sound administrative structure down through a youth team and well-defined corporate objectives.

Employment and approval of financial transactions are effected by the Chief Executive in consultation with the Board of Directors.
Recruitment Transfer of Players are recommended by the Head Coach for the consideration of the Management headed by the Chief Executive
