Mercurial Laryea Kingston |
Ex-Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston believes his return to the local league will spark the lost excitement when the second round resumes on February 19.
Laryea who has returned to the local league to play for Accra Hearts of Oak after fall-outs with his former Israeli club has agreed an 18-month deal for the rest of the season and beyond.
The 31 year old skillful midfielder said, my presence in the league is going to generate a lot of interest. I think it is important for Ghanaians to appreciate what we have. Most of the teams in the local league do not have the stars that the supporters so much crave for, as most of them run to Europe and stay there even when no team wants them. But I believe that with my return to Hearts, that excitement will once again be felt in the league, especially during Hearts matches".
He further promised working harder than before to help the team win the league at the end of the season.
"I will work hard for the team on and off the pitch. I hope to impact positively on the team with the experience gained outside. It won't be easy looking at the level of football being played here in the local league, but I am sure to cope very well to make a statement for myself that I'm still not finished", he stated.
Laryea said, he can't wait to don the Hearts jersey on the 19th as they play away to Heart of Lions in a must-win game for the Phobians.
"Like I said earlier, I'm here to help and prove myself to Ghanaians of what I can do. And I'm happy that the entire Hearts fraternity has welcomed me warmly, and it feels good to be back", he said.
Kingston has played in two Cup of Nations competitions with the Black Stars and boasts of a rich club experience after playing in Russia, Israel and Scotland.
