Abbey and Cobbinah were outstanding in the tournament as Ghana annexed the 2017 WAFU Cup at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
The Hearts captain, Abbey, who was mainly used as a left back, was named the man-of-the-match in Ghana’s 2-0 win over Guinea and he did not put a foot wrong as the tournament progressed.
Cobbinah was an unused substitute in the opening game against Gambia but he took his chance when he started against Guinea. He followed up his perfomance with a lovely goal and man-of-the-match award against Mali before scoring the final goal in the 4-1 rout of Nigeria in the finals.
The two have been named alongside Ghana’s Isaac Twum and Stephen Sarfo in the Best XI team of the tournament compiled by the WAFU Technical Study Group.
We congratulate Abbey and Cobbinah on being named in the WAFU team of the tournament.
