A determined Hearts of Oak side only yesterday put the fear of the Lord in inferior division Sharp Arrows of Kintampo, numbing the sharpness of their arrows and blunting them effectively, till they decided to abandon contesting the phobians at the Sunyani Coronation Park in the FA Cup match eliminator.
The phobians who had been led to the pitch by deputy coach Shaibu Tanko Ibrahim were so much in high spirits, owing to the fact that per the FA regulations only the old players registered in the first round were to feature, and therefore it was an opportune time for the oldsters to showcase their prowess by cementing their positions away from the new lads. Yet the supposedly Sharp Arrows never bothered to show up, lest they be buried under an avalanche of goals. Indeed at the pre-match conference where Hearts fielded acting team manager Patrick Madjitey and Logistics Officer Nat Ofosu to oversee affairs, Arrows cheekily threw into the fray a cleaner at the Coronation Park and a driver to deliberate on their behalf. Naturally the phobians who knew in the fibre of their being that these two officials had nothing to do with Arrows at least in an official capacity protested, choosing to take pictures for posterity’s sake. Somehow, the two lads vanished and could be traced no more. But Mr. Ofosu went ahead to present Hearts' jersey colours for the match and together with Madjitey, completed all formalities that go into pre-match conferences. After that they reported back to officials, who ordered that the team reports for the match at 1.45pm. When the phobians did, Sharp Arrows who eliminated Bofoakwa Tano to get to this stage never reported and after waiting for 30 minutes at a few minutes after 3.30pm, referee G. K. Manu called off the match. What the domestic football world cannot tell for sure is whether the run-away Arrows, will still have the effrontery to shoot forwards to stake a claim to asking for another bite at the FA cherry against Hearts of Oak.
