Stephen âTornadoâ Appiah |
Ex- Black Stars captain, Stephen âTornadoâ Appiah has joined the Hearts of Oak team in training.
The ex-skipper who made an initial request to train with the team some time last year, had to postpone that plan due to the demise of his father. But after the successful completion of the funeral rights, the player, who is now in a stable frame of mind has joined the playing body to keep fit ahead of a lucrative deal he is waiting for in Europe. Though not a registered player of the club, Appiah has shown that he is indeed a disciplined player as he has managed to attend all the training programmes the technical team at the Marcel Dessaily Lizzy Complex, where the team is now camped. By far Appiah's involvement in the training programmes has lifted the spirit of the playing body billed to play their first FA Cup match on Sunday. Members of the technical team who spoke to HEARTS NEWS were happy with his involvement, a decision they perceived has positively affected the approach and demeanour of the playing body, especially the new ones who were just registered for the second round. "He comes to training on time even when we have not started and that in itself is enough motivation for the playing body. I believe they take inspiration from him and will take a cue from how he is going about his activities", mentioned one member of the technical team. Appiah, a childhood friend of Laryea Kingston is seen as an inspiration to most up-and-coming footballers who aspire to be either like him, or do more for both club and country. Together with his buddy Laryea, Appiah constantly gives pieces of advice to the playing body on how best to become a good player, and catch the eye of not only the Hearts technical team but that of the various national teams depending on their ages.
